Wilson Digital Media’s Online Ticketing arm today announced the upcoming release of a seating allocation module for it’s Heritage Railway advance booking solution.
This module adds the ability for heritage railways to allocate specific seats or a range of seats for bookings made on the vTicket system. Although the module could be used for any event or service, it is specifically targeted at those railways who have specific seat allocations for Santa Special trains every Christmas. Wilson Digital MD Oliver Barnes explains:
We’ve listened and responded to existing users and those looking to implement our system. Although many railways don’t have specific allocations, those that do still have a huge job manually allocating to orders placed on any system they might be using. Now if they use vTicket they’ll be able to take bookings online or over the telephone and dynamically allocate seats from whatever carriage set they’re using and have those seat numbers included on the booking and therefore printed on the tickets issued.
They’ll also be able to produce reports on the status of any specific running of the service to graphically view how full they are. This is a major bonus for many potential users as the Santa trains are often the most important event of the year financially, but can be very time-consuming to administer where bookings are concerned. Not any more.
This is one of many planned additions to the already successful vTicket system which is becoming the bespoke system of choice for heritage railways.
It is hoped that the new module will be available to all users in July.
